A staggering 378,000 tonnes of homeware textile waste ends up in landfill or is incinerated every year in the UK alone, according to a situation report by WRAP conducted in 2019.

As interior designers ourselves, we’ve witnessed the excruciating waste within our industry first hand. We’ve all witnessed home styles changing, resulting in decent quality furnishing fabrics being switched out for new. In the trade we’ve also seen the volume of remnants that hit the cutting room floor with industry makers. And that’s before we get to the wasted fabric samples, and rolls of fabric as collections change, or specifiers place over orders with excess wastage accounted for.

Seeing these often beautiful fabrics (often straight off the roll) go to waste got us thinking. When we created Second Weave Studio we wanted to put these remnants to good use. Not only does it keep our collections unique, but also ensures even the smallest of these fabric gems can become a hero in its own special way.

We use natural textiles & materials wherever possible, from a selection of yarns, linens, wools and other textiles.
